We decided to use a portion of our discretionary budget to award grants for various community projects or initiatives. In order to do that, we need a process in place to accept grant proposals and award grants.
Based on a 12 week quarter, here's a rough proposed timeline.
Week 1-6 Grant proposals can be submitted and receive feedback. No proposals accepted after week 6.
Week 6-8 TSC discusses the budget for the next quarter and selects grant proposals to be awarded
Week 8-12 vote to approve budget (including grants)
Grants are then awarded in the first week of the quarter.
Grants proposals must include the following information.
Proposals can be submitted as an issue to the ??? (tsc?, community?) repo. We can create an issue template for grant proposals and we should have a label.
We'll want to create a page on the website to document the grants process and let the world know what we're doing through social media and the blog.
Note: We can't start awarding grants until we get approval from OpenCollective to do so.
What do you think? What am I missing?
