Thanks for letting us know, I'm looking into it |
I had a user in 3580489-zen get the following error when trying to connect their Business plan site: It was working previously on their free site, before upgrading to a Business plan. Testing on my own free site, I am unable to connect as well. |
@afk4life can you give it another try and see if it's working for you now? |
Another report of this in 21740816-hc (follow up 3590833-zen) Business Plan user getting error when trying to connect to their site via WordPress.com for Google Docs add-on: "Token response not valid JSON: SyntaxError: Empty JSON string" |
Behavior here seems inconsistent. I was able to successfully save a draft from Google Docs to my test site on WordPress.com. I set up a new connection, having not used the add-on before. After installing the extension I added my test site, linked to my WordPress.com account, and then successfully saved a test document. It appeared instantly on my test site as a draft, no errors along the way. One note that may be intended behavior or may be an oddity: after adding my test site I did have to refresh the page in order for the option to send my Google Doc to the site to appear. My browser for this testing was the current release of Chrome on macOS 10.15.7. |
Initially, I could not get my self-hosted or WordPress.com Business (Atomic) sites connected and things failed with Next, I completely removed the add-on from my Google account, cleared my browser cache, and then added it back. After, I was able to successfully connect and post to: The only issue I had along the way was having to refresh after connecting the sites before seeing them in the app's toolbar. Noting that the reports so far are self-hosted or WordPress.com Business (Atomic) sites. |
For users that continue to have issues with this, it may be worth trying the following.
After, try installing and connecting again. |
Another user with another report in 29019480-hc (follow up 3909349-zen), Premium plan We attempted the suggested solution, but ran into a snag when the user tried to reconnect to WordPress.com, as the error was still there. More context and link to discussion in the support interactions. |

3424237-hc - error: Disconnecting/reconnecting from site and uninstalling/reinstalling app did not resolve the issue. It took a couple of attempts to reconnect. Once reconnected, we then saw We worked around it by using a different site. Two other sites on same account do work with the add-on. |
Another case: 5676430-zd-woothemes with Suggested the troubleshooting steps from above. |
I go from Docs to Add a Wordpress site, which first throws some error about insecure content which does not make sense as the site is 100% SSL, then after successful login to WP I cannot add it with the Google Script Error
